Hi

I have a customer who has a requirement to update the reason for vRA7.3 Deployment deletion in their CMDB. Is there a way to read/get the deployment deletion reason provided by the user at machine disposing stage?

User Domain Cannot Login to vRealize Automation Console 7.2

Hi there,

I have an issue that I can't handle. Getting an ‘Access Denied, You do not have access to this service. Contact your administrator for assistance’ error when logging into the portal using domain users/admins even after adding the group to the tenant and IAAS admin groups and to various business groups etc. Login using local acounts is fine and searching domain users works a treat.

Any ideas? Cheers

vRA7.3 Bulk Import - RegisterMachine

$

Hallo,

I've used the bulk import to successfully import a machine (the first one) into vRA. It shows up under Infrastructure -> Managed Machines with a status of RegisterMachine. It however does not show up in Items -> Machines. The machine I have imported was not created through vRA, it also does not have the agent installed. Is the agent the missing component from me being able to manage this machine in vRA or am I forgetting something else?

Kind regards,

Martijn

We installed the vRA Plugin for ITSM 3.0 on Service Now Istanbul. We followed the instructions but after executing the scripts we can see the categories but not the category items. also there is no "Add here" button (might be missing because no items are there). I hope somebody can help us.

I am doing an install of vra 7.3. All the components in the distributed install work fine except for the second DEM which errors out and the guided installer fails. Has anyone run into this before? Any suggestions?

sccm powershell vco

Hi,

I try to run powershell commands of SCCM from vmware orchestrator with the workflow named: Run script in VM guest (Guest Script Manager)

These are the following commands:

Import-module ($Env:SMS_ADMIN_UI_PATH.Substring(0,$Env:SMS_ADMIN_UI_PATH.Length-5) + '\ConfigurationManager.psd1')

#Get SiteCode

$SiteCode = Get-PSDrive -PSProvider CMSITE

Set-location $SiteCode":"

When the user who run these commands is login to the sccm server, the workflow finish successfully.

Once the user is logoff, and I run again the workflow, it fails with the following error:

item: 'Run script in VM guest/item25', state: 'failed', business state: 'null', exception: 'Set-location : Cannot find path 'C:\Windows\system32\:' because it does not

exist.

Running the same command with a scheduled task in the same serer it works!

any idea?

Unable to View Item Details of Provisioned Azure Deployments

Hi all,

I'm using the out of the box Azure blueprints to deploy devices. They provision as expected but when I try to view the Item Details for them the loading mask spins for awhile and eventually errors out with something like:

This behavior is seen on two instances I have, one a 7.2, and another a 7.3. Opening up catalina.out on the vRealize Automation appliance I see this peppered in the log:

Only KB I can find around this is a 6.2 fix. Since my instances are 7.x I'm a little worried about applying this.

I have noticed that when I try to load a type Azure:VirtualMachine from a workflow run it takes forever to pull (might be the way the get logic was implemented, or the API call behind the scenes used), so I can see why this occurs.

Anyone run into this before?

How to expose Business State from sub vRO workflow to back to vRA

$

Hi there,

Does anyone now how I can fill the "Current Activity" field in a Xaas Workflow? I know how to use Business States straight forward. But in our environment in many cases vRO workflows are not triggered directly but through a wrapper workflow (to dynamically define attributes for generic worker workflows). Therefore I only see the business state from my simple wrapper workflow, which often consists of only scriptable task. Not from the effective working one which quite complex.

Is there a possibility to set the my business state via scriptable task? Or is there a different way? I also have no idea how to fill the field "Current Activity" from vRA (see attached screenshot).

Many Thanks

Requesting catalog item via API that requires entity type VC:VirtualMachine

I have a blueprint that requires a parameter of entity type VC:VirtualMachine. I am executing this blueprint through the vRA api. I was able to manually get the reference object of the VM by setting the default on vRA and requesting the schema.

{ "classId": "VC:VirtualMachine", "componentId": null, "href": "https://VRAHOST:443/vco/api/inventory/VC/SdkConnection...vm-863/", "id": "VCENTERHOST/vm-863", "label": "vm50", "type": "entityRefEx" }

I create this VM through a blueprint and have the request ID and resource ID. How can I find the above object through the API?

vRA 7.x - VirtualMachine.Admin.Owner

Hi All,

How can I deploy a Blueprint for other users (on behalf is not an option because users has no entitlements for that) in vRealize Automation 7.x?

In vRA 6.x, I had users with no entitlement for services (they can't deploy VMs) and, as a Business Group Admin I can deploy a VM using the Custom Property "VirtualMachine.Admin.Owner" specifying a user, so the deployed VM appears in the user's Items Tab.

In vRA 7.x this doesn't work neither setting the property in the Deployment nor the Virtual Machine. The deployment and the Virtual Machine appears in the Admin's Items Tab rather than the User's.

Thanks a lot,

vRA 7.3 - VMs with multiple IP addresses

$

First, vRA is a pain to learn! I could go on, but here's the problem I'm having. I've setup a simple proof of concept environment, I'm trying to automate the deployment of VMs from two vCenter templates. One template exists on a single network, another on two networks. I'm able to deploy the single network template from the catalog without issue getting a correct static address from my range. The other has two static IP addresses, from two different subnets, which isn't working as expected.

I have two network profiles, lets called server and storage. One has a 10.x network, the other 172.x network. Each profile has a range of addresses I'm using for testing. These network profiles are linked to the Network adapter session in the Reservation.

The blueprint for the actual VM template is linked to a property group, which has two properties OS.VirtualMachine.Network0.ProfileName, and a second with 1 instead of 0. Each property definition has under the "Static List" section the network profile name for the "Value" field. I should now have everything linked to deploy a VM with two network adapters and get their respective IP address from the ranges setup in the network profile.

When my user account goes under the Catalog tab and selects Request, the next section shows the drop down boxes for choosing the networks before selecting submit. The VM gets deployed, however the addresses aren't correct. Sometimes I get two 10.x net address, two 172s, or one of each, but backwards. First time it deployed correctly oddly enough. But the address doesn't seem to get applied to the right adapter. Any ideas on how to get the addresses assigned correctly?

Also, since our DNS is external, the addresses and hostnames have been pre-staged. I'd need to somehow say "server01" always gets address 10.0.0.1, for instance. Is that possible here? And yes DHCP with DNS integration would solve this, currently working on but that's an internal non technical process.

Thanks for any help.

Get storage reservation policy name assigned to a Datastore in the Compute Resource via vco

$

I'm using vra 7.3 with embedded vco.

I'm trying to get the storage reservation policy assigned to a Datastore in the reservation in which i'm trying to deploy vm to be able to deploy the VM in a specific datastore.

It seems I'm not able to find the association between the datastore and the policy via vco.

I have the reservation name i'm using and the storagePath (datastore name) but cannot get the data from the vra page infrastructure/compute resources/configuration

Anyone know what query/function I can use to get this information? I've tried a lot of combination but I always end up with the storagePath and not with the Storage Reservation name that I need.

Thanks

2 endpoint agents in same VM

Does anyone know if it is possible to run two vROps Endpoint Operations agents in the same VM?

The situation is 2 vROps environments (one in customer space and the other in provider space) and both want to monitor the same services in certain VMs.

Thanks,

VRA tags

Hi,

I'm having problem with creating tags in vRealize Orchestrator.

I've followed up instructions that i have found on couple websites - Kovarus... and others

VAPI metamodel and endpoint have been successfully added, when i do API search for "com_" i can see nearly 500 results.

Can someone point me on next step?

Idea is to create multiple tags on existing VMs and on new deployed VM's (presume that i will need to attach this option to deployment blueprint)

Multiple tags should contain info regarding backup, AV, monitoring - all tags should have fixed options with drop down menu.

For example: BACKUP -> NO, Daily, Monthly

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Discrepancy in vRA Reservation Storage Details between GUI and API

vRA 7.3

I'm seeing a discrepancy in vRA Reservation Storage details between what is reported in the GUI and what is returned via the API. Here's an example.

These are the storage figures in the GUI for my reservation:

StorageReservation.png

and the data returned by the API:

key                                  value

---                                  -----

storageReservedSizeGB                @{type=integer; value=20}

storageReservationPriority           @{type=integer; value=0}

permissible_value_selected           @{type=boolean; value=True}

storageAllocatedSizeGB               @{type=integer; value=0}

computeResourceStorageTotalSizeGB    @{type=integer; value=48}

isStorageCluster                     @{type=boolean; value=False}

storagePath                          @{type=entityRef; classId=Storage; id=44d5a6b3-f899-4900-8a0e-15017e4e2630; componentId=; label=NFS01}

storageEnabled                       @{type=boolean; value=True}

computeResourceStorageReservedSizeGB @{type=integer; value=10}

isSDRSEnabled                        @{type=boolean; value=False}

computeResourceStorageFreeSizeGB     @{type=integer; value=33}

diskCost                             @{type=integer; value=0}

In easier to read form:

1) Total Computer Resource Storage space is: 48
2) Free Computer Resource Storage space is: 33
3) Computer Resource Storage Reserved space is: 10
4) StorageReservedSize is: 20
5) storageAllocatedSize is: 0

So there definitely seems to be an issue with 2, 3 and 5.

The API call was made to /reservation-service/api/reservations/$($ReservationId)

and the storage figures returned via the ExtensionData property of the result.

There are more details with another example over in an issue on our PowervRA repo: Not fetching correct data from VRA · Issue #172 · jakkulabs/PowervRA · GitHub

Anyone else having the same problem?

Configuration Synchronization Required error

$

I manage several deployments of a two-node vRA 7.3 using the built-in version of vRO.  Today I noticed that on all my networks I started receiving the error "configuration synchronization required" in the control center when doing health checks.  To the best of my knowledge, nothing changed in the environment and I know everything was synchronized two days ago.  I've gone as far as restarting each node one at a time with no luck.

I did come across this VMware Knowledge Base, however, it seems that in version 7.3 there is no "Synchronize" button anymore and I did see the article was only for 7.2.  Anyways, I'm trying to find out anyone else has came across this error and if so where you able to correct it.

Thanks in advance for any help you can be.

Deploy a Server in AWS with Different AMI ID

$

Hi,

I want to allow users to deploy a windows server in VRA based off an AMI they have created. When creating blueprints you have to specify an AMI ID and that stays constant, i was told there was a way through the cloud client to update the blueprint AMI, but the issue with this would be it would only really work if i had one user using the blueprint. I need multiple users using it, so what would the best way to achieve this be?

Goal: Have the ability to deploy a blueprint based on various images from AWS the user selects.

properties, blueprints and request form?

$

Hi,

I got two blueprints which are published and can be deployed - both blueprints require the user to enter a custom property "projectCode"

That works all fine.

Now I created a new blueprint and dragged both existing blueprints in it.

The request form now requires the user to enter the projectCode twice (as expected at this stage)

I've tried to set the custom property at the blueprint level -> now I have to enter it three times

What do I need to change, so I only have to enter the project code once?

Thanks

[vRA 7.3] - Clone XaaS blueprint and Change some values

$

Hi community,

we need to duplicate a XaaS blueprint and after we need to change some values and the name of the XaaS cloned.*

Two solutions :

1°)

- Clone XaaS with the default vRO workflow (Clone a service blueprint)

- But now it's not possible to automatize the change of some values.... Manually it's not a solution :-)

- It's possible to change some values in XaaS Blueprint with Actions or other ?

EXAMPLE value to change :

CPU default value 4 to 6 for example.

Capture-1.jpg

2°)

- Other solution it's to export XaaS blueprint in a package.

- Parse and change all values in a YAML file.

- Import Package....All task will be automatized of course.

Do you have an other IDEA how clone, modify values without manual action of course ?
